Tulip Container - Beginner-Friendly Crochet Decor

 


Hello!

This is a super simple and fun pattern for a Tulip Container. It is a fun crochet project, and it is functional. You can use it to keep little things and jewellery.

Let's get started!

Materials:

  • Yarn – Weight-3 acrylic yarn in three colors
  • Hook – 3.5 mm hook 
  • Scissors 
  • Stitch Marker or yarn of contrasting color 

You can use this pattern with any type of yarn with the recommended hook size

Abbreviations:

mr – magic ring

st – stitch 

ch – chain 

sc - single crochet 

inc – increase (2 stitches into the same space) 

dc – double crochet 

sl st – slip stitch 

ch-1 sp - chain 1 space 

Special Stitches: 

v-st - V stitch - Work 1 dc st, 1 ch, and 1 more dc st in the same chain or space. 

pc - popcorn stitch - Work 5 dc, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back through top of first st made, place dropped loop on hook and pull through st. 


Pattern

The Base:


In Creme:

Magic Ring and Ch1 

Round 1: 6 sc into the magic ring - (6sc) 

Round 2: inc x 6 - (12sc) 

Round 3: [sc, inc] x 6 - (18sc)

Round 4: [sc 2, inc] x 6 - (24 sc) 

Round 5: [sc 3, inc] x 6 - (30 sc) 

Round 6: [sc 4, inc] x 6 - (36 sc) 

Round 7: [sc 5, inc] x 6 - (42 sc) 

Round 8: [sc 6, inc] x 6 - (48 sc) 

Round 9 - Round 16: sc x 48 - (48 sc)


The Stem:

In Green:

Round 17 (Stem): [ch4, dc], sk 2, [v-st, sk 2] x 15 - (16 v-sts) 


The Tulips:

In Pink:

Round 18 (Tulips): [ch3, 4dc, pull loop of last dc through top of first dc], [pc into every ch-1 sp] x 15 - (16 pc) 

Refer ‘Special Stitches’ section for “pc” and “v-st”. 

Cut yarn and weave in all loose ends using a yarn needle


And you're done!
