Sunflower Granny Square Top | Tutorial + Pattern for Begginers and Advanced Crocheters
Hey!
This is a simple and fun pattern for a Sunflower Granny Square Top. It is made from the beautiful sunflower squares which are so fun to crochet! There is a detailed tutorial for the same on my YouTube Channel which you can check out in the link given here
Materials:
Yarn – Weight-3 yarn
- Green- approx. 100 grams
- Yellow- approx. 100 grams
- Brown- approx. 50 grams
Hook – 4.5mm
Tapestry needle
Measuring tape (optional)
Scissors
You can use this pattern with any type of yarn with the recommended hook size.
Abbreviations:
mr – magic ring
st/sts – stitch/stitches
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
trc - treble crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sk - skip stitch
Special Stitch
puff st - yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops), yarn over, pull up a loop in same st (5 loops), yarn over, pull up a loop in same st (7 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all 7 loops, chain 1
cluster - dc4tog - double crochet 4 together
Sunflower Granny Square(x12):
Center in Brown:
Magic Ring and Ch2
Round 1: 16dc in MR - (16 dc)
Join the yellow yarn.
Petals in Yellow:
Round 2: (puff st, ch 1) x 16, sl st on top of first puff stitch - (16 puffs) [puff st - yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops), yarn over, pull up a loop in same st (5 loops), yarn over, pull up a loop in same st (7 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all 7 loops]
Round 3: (dc4tog, ch2) x 16, sl st on top of first cluster - (16 clusters)
Square in Green:
Round 4: 3trc, *[3dc, 3hdc, 3dc, 3hdc, (3trc, ch3, 3trc for corner)] repeat from *, after the last 3dc make 3trc into the first space and ch2 - (15sts on each side)
Round 5: 2dc, dc on top of each st, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) for corner - (19 dc on each side) Note: Repeat the round 5 if you want a bigger granny square or skip it if you want it smaller.
Fasten off.
Make 12 Sunflower Granny Squares in total.
Lay them down in a way as you can see in the top and join the granny squares.
Join them by the way I have which is the Flat Slip Stitch Seam. You can find the detailed tutorial on it on my channel here
Strap:
R1: Join yarn in the corner ch30, join on other side. Chain as long as you want the strap
R2: sl st in each ch - (30 sl st)
