How to Crochet the Marisol Bag | Granny Square Bag Free Tutorial + Pattern



Hey! 

The Marisol Bag is your perfect everyday crochet bag! Made from floral granny squares with a twist. Marisol bag adds a touch of handmade magic to your outfit.

Materials:

  • Yarn – Fine yarn in same or two colors - (250gms in total)
  • Hook – 7mm and 5mm hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch Markers
  • You can use this pattern with any type of yarn with the recommended hook size.


Abbreviations:

  • mr – magic ring
  • st/sts – stitch/stitches
  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet sc - single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch1-sp/ch2-sp - ch1 space/ch2 space
  • dc3tog – double crochet 3 together

    • Yarn over (YO), insert your hook into the stitch/space, YO, pull up a loop — you have 3 loops on your hook.
    • YO, pull through 2 loops — now you have 2 loops on your hook.
    • YO, insert into the same stitch/space, YO, pull up a loop (4 loops now), YO, pull through 2 loops — you now have 3 loops on your hook.
    • Repeat the same again: YO, insert hook, YO, pull up a loop (5 loops), YO, pull through 2 — you now have 4 loops on the hook.
    • YO, pull through all 4 loops on the hook.

Pattern:

Use the 7mm hook and two strands of yarn

Round 1:

  • Make a magic ring.
  • Into the ring, work 12 dc.
  • Join with a sl st to the top of the first dc - (12 dc total)

Round 2:

  • Ch 1 to start the round.
  • Work [dc3tog, ch 1] — repeat this 12 times into each dc from the previous round.
  • Join with a sl st to the top of the first cluster - (12 sets of dc3tog)

Round 3:

  • Sl st into the next ch-1 space to begin.
  • Now repeat the following 4 times (one per side):
    • In the next ch-1 space:
      • Work a corner — [dc3tog, ch 3, dc3tog]
    • Ch 1
    • In the next 2 ch-1 spaces:
      • Work one 3dctog cluster into each space.
  • Join with a sl st at the end - (16 sets of dc3tog)

Round 4:

  • sl st to the next corner space to start.
  • Now repeat the following 4 times:
    • In the corner space make:
      • [dc3tog, ch 3, dc3tog]
    • Ch 1
    • In the next 3 ch-1 spaces, work 1 cluster (dc3tog) in each.
  • Join with a sl st - (20 sets of dc3tog)

Round 5:

  • Sl st to the next corner space.
  • Repeat this 4 times:
    • In the corner ch-1 space:
      • [3dctog, ch 3, 3dctog]
    • Ch 1
    • In the next 4 ch-1 spaces, work 1 cluster (dc3tog) into each.
  • Join with a sl st - (24 sets of dc3tog)

Round 6:

  • Sl st to the nearest corner ch-3 space.
  • Repeat this 4 times:
    • In the corner space:
      • [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc]
  • Along each side, work 3 dc into each ch-1 space from the previous round (i.e., into each cluster gap).
  • Join with a sl st - (84 dc)Round 6:
    • Sl st to the nearest corner ch-3 space.
    • Repeat this 4 times:
      • In the corner space:
        • [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc]
    • Along each side, work 3 dc into each ch-1 space from the previous round (i.e., into each cluster gap).
    • Join with a sl st - (84 dc)
