The Head & Body:
In Off-White:
This pattern is worked in rounds, so you don’t join at the end of each round with a sl st.
Round 1:
- Make a magic ring.
- Work 6sc into the ring.
- Pull the ring tight to close - (6 sc)
- You should now have a small tight circle.
Round 2:
- Increase in every stitch.
- That means:
- Put 2sc into each stitch from the previous round.
- You will make 6 increases total - (12 sc)
Round 3:
[sc, inc] × 6
- This means:
- Make 1sc in the first stitch
- Make 2sc in the next stitch
- Repeat this pattern all the way around - (18 sc)
Round 4:
[2 sc, inc] × 6
- This means:
- 1sc in the next 2 stitches
- 2sc in the following stitch
- Repeat around - (24 sc)
Round 5:
[3 sc, inc] × 6
- This means:
- 1sc in the next 3 stitches
- 2sc in the next stitch
- Repeat around - (30 sts)
Round 6-9:
- 1 sc in every stitch
- Do not increase or decrease - (30 sc in every round)
- This creates the height of the teddy’s head. You will start to see a bowl shape forming.
Round 10:
[3 sc, dec] × 6
This means:
- 1 sc in the next 3 stitches
- Crochet 2 stitches together with the help of an invisible decrease.
- Repeat around - (24 sts)
Check “Special Stitches” for Invisible Decrease.
Round 11:
[2 sc, dec] × 6 - (18 sc)
- Add the safety eyes between R6 and R7 at a distance of 5 sts
- Embroider a small nose with black/brown yarn and needle
- Stuff the head.
Round 12:
[sc, dec] × 6 - (12 sc)
- This section narrows the body and forms the neck.
Round 13:
- Increase in every stitch.
- Make 2 sc in each stitch - (24 sc)
- This sudden increase creates the body.
Round 14-18:
1 sc in every stitch - (24 sc in each round)
- This forms the shape of the body.
Round 19:
[2 sc, dec] × 6 - (18 sc)
Round 20:
[sc, dec] × 6 - (12 sc)
- Before the opening becomes too small, start stuffing.
Stuffing:
- Stuff the head and body firmly
- Shape gently with your fingers
Round 21:
dec × 6 - (6 sc)
- Fasten off and close the opening neatly.
