The Sepal:
In Green:
This Repeat the exact same steps as mentioned above for the sepal in green color. Don’t leave a tail to join as the white yarn will be used for the join while making the petals.
You’ll end up with two discs.
The Petals and Joining:
In White (or any color):
Place the Yellow disc on top of the Green disc, wrong sides facing each other. You will now join them by working through both layers at once.
Round 6:
Join White yarn by inserting your hook through any stitch of the yellow disc and the corresponding stitch of the green disc.
- Petal 1: * In the next st: [1 hdc, 2 dc] all in that same st.
- In the next st: 3 trc.
- In the next st: [2 dc, 1 hdc] all in that same st.
- In the next st: sl st to anchor the petal.
- Remaining Petals: Repeat the sequence above 4 more times around the circle.
- Fill in the space between the discs with some fiber fill and then proceed to make the last petal.
- Total: 6 Petals.
- sl st into the first st, ch1.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
The Leaf:
In Green:
The leaf is worked on both sides of a foundation chain. Work into the back bumps for better finish.
- Foundation: Ch 10.
- Side 1: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, work:
- 1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc - (9 sts)
- The Tip: Ch 1 to turn the corner.
- Side 2: Working into the opposite side of the foundation chain, work:
- 1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc - (9 sts)
- sl st to the first sc of Side 1 to close the leaf.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail if sewing to join, or short if using hot glue or adding to the chain directly.
Assembly:
- Add a jump ring to one of the ends of the leaf and add it onto the chain of the keyring or using a tapestry needle, sew the leaf to the back of the flower (the Green side) near the base of one petal. Or use hot glue to stick it.
- Open your jump ring or keychain loop and attach it to the space between two petals or onto the center of a petal.
And once you’re done joining it, your flower keychain is done!
I'd love to see if you make one of your own.
