How to Crochet Ombre Roses ✨ | Beginner-Friendly Crochet Gradient Rose Tutorial + Free Pattern
Hello!
There is something so special about a flower that never wilts. I designed this rose to capture that classic, romantic garden look while keeping the construction straightforward and fun to stitch. This project is perfect for creating a handmade bouquet, a Mother’s Day gift, or a "forever" flower for your home decor.

Materials:
- Yarn – Weight - 3 Acrylic Yarn in four colors
- 2 shades of pink
- Off-white or white for the outermost layer of the flower
- Green
- Hook – 3mm
- Scissors
- Stitch Marker
- Hot Glue
- Floral Sticks or Wire
- Thin wire (0.5 mm)
Abbreviations:
- mr – magic ring
- st/sts – stitch/stitches
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr/trc – treble crochet
- sk st - skip stitch
- sl st – slip stitch
- shell - 3dc in same space
- ch2-sp - chain2 space
- V-st - (dc, ch 2, dc) in same st
The Flower :
(In Off-White)
Ch 59 (or any multiple of 3 + 2)
Row 1:
- sc in each ch across - (58 sc)
Row 2:
- ch1, turn,
- * [dc, ch 2, dc] in 1st st, skip next 2 sts, in next st – repeat from * across - (20 V-stitches)
Row 3:
- ch1, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in each ch-2 space across - (20 shell groups)
Row 4:
- ch1, 8 dc in each ch-2 space, sc between shells.
- Continue till you have 10 petals or as many as you want in off white
- Fasten off after the sc after the tenth petal
- Join the light pink yarn
- 8 dc in each ch-2 space, sc between shells
- Continue till you have 5 petals or as many as you want in light pink.
- Fasten off after the sc after the 5th petal
- Join the dark pink yarn
- 8 dc in each ch-2 space, sc between shells
- 1 dc each on top of the last two dc - (20 shell groups & 2 dc)
Sepal (In Green):
- Magic ring
- Round 1: 12 dc into the ring - (12 dc)
- Round: * dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around - (18 dc)
- Round 3: *ch8, work into ch: sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc, tr.
- Skip 3 sts on base, sl st into next
- Repeat from the second * till you have 5 sepals
Leaf (In Green):
Ch12
Row 1: Work over the wire:
- Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc, 7 dc, hdc, 3sc in last ch
- Work on the other side of the foundation chain: hdc, 7 dc, hdc, sc
- sl st to join
- Fasten off and twist the wire to form the midrib/stem.
You can also make sets of 2–3 leaves on one wire stem.
Assembly:
- Use a flower stick or cut up a 27 cm length of floral wire.
- Starting at one end, apply some hot glue and roll the rose strip to form the rose shape.
- Adjust the outer petals to bloom slightly outward for a natural look.
- Bring the free yarn and pass it through the center of the sepal and tie with the yarn present on sepal.
- Pass the floral wire through the center of the sepal. Stick the sepal to the base of the flower with hot glue, including corners.
- Wrap tightly with green yarn starting from the base of the rose down to the bottom of the wire.
- Add leaves while wrapping the stem.
Make 3–5 roses for a full bouquet. Arrange and wrap with ribbon or lace.
